A smile in the Wind

A smile in the Wind is the urban light art installation on the façade of the tallest building in Pitäjänmäki, North-West part of Helsinki. It renders visible the wind of four seasons of the Baltic sea with both static and dynamic lighting that changes throughout the year. The light art installation makes the Pitäjänmäki tower a focal point that is visible from several kilometres away

The installation is in conformity with the original visions of the building’s architect Mauri Tommila by accentuating the horizontal lines forming a sail-like shape.

The façade light art was commissioned 2013 by the building’s proprietor Niam Oy.
