Siilo 468
Realized in 2012 Helsinki World Design Capital year, Silo 468 is one of the most iconic permanent light art installations of the decade. City of Helsinki organized a competition for a permanent installation in an old, empty oil silo in the new Kruunuvuorenranta district and Lighting Design Collective won the competition with their fully algorithmically controlled, swarm-intelligence simulation that serves as a public space on the inside. The 2012 holes, 1280 pixel LEDs and a few hundred mirrors make the location a unique experience both day and night time.
